Homily: Pentecost (June 12, 2011)
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today we come to the conclusion of the holy season of Easter, where we have meditated upon and celebrated our new life and faith in the risen Lord Jesus. We see that the risen Lord has been so good to us over these past 50 days – he has been patiently and lovingly preparing us for continuing His mission, but now in and through the life of the Church under the power of the Holy Spirit. We have been praying all week – and this weekend – “Come, Holy Spirit! Fill the hearts of your faithful and rekindle in them the fire of your Divine Love!” The fire of Divine Love – The Holy Spirit is fire, and this Holy Fire comes down from Heaven in order to convict us of our sins, to purify us and cleanse us of our impurities, and to fill us with the fire of His Love for us.
