At all the weekend Masses, November 8-9, St. Joseph Church will be having a second collection for our “Annual Catholic Mission.” These missions are vital as an outreach for the continued growth of the Church in areas that are without resources of any kind, so my prayer is that you will continue to support and help this very important ministry.
The Archdiocese has arranged for Fr. Jack Nuelle, M.S., from the United States Catholic Mission Association to preach at all the weekend Masses to give you an idea of what these missions do for so many around the world.
There will be envelopes at the weekend Masses for your contributions, and if you write a check please make it out to St. Joseph Church. You may also choose to give through the Parish website under “Donate” through PayPal or Vanco and in the memo type in “Annual Catholic Mission.”
Again, I wish to thank you all for your support and generosity for this worthy ministry.
Msgr. Richard Huneger
This beautiful choral-orchestral setting of the Roman Catholic Mass for the Dead is the best known of Faure’s large works, and reflects his hopeful interpretation of death. Faure himself said of his work, “It has been said that my Requiem does not express the fear of death and someone has called it a lullaby of death. But it is thus that I see death: as a happy deliverance, an aspiration towards happiness above, rather than as a painful experience.”
