- BAPTISM -
Baptismal preparation class for parents (and godparents) of children
under the age of seven years is required before arrangements to
baptize can be made.  Classes in English are offered on the first
Saturday of each month, and classes in Spanish are offered every
Sunday and Tuesday. Registration for these classes can be made by
filling out a baptismal application and returning it to the parish office
with a copy of the child's birth cirtificate.  Baptisms in English are
usually performed after the 10:00 a.m. Sunday Mass while Spanish
baptisms take place on Saturdays at 12:00 p.m.

If your child is 7 years old or older, he/she has to prepare for the
sacrament of First Communion.

- RECONCILIATION & FIRST COMMUNION -
This program includes children from the parish school and the evening
Religious Education Program.  Children in the second grade prepare all
school year for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First ommunion.
Children in grades third through eighth who have not received First
Communion prepare for the sacraments in a special program.

For more information, contact Peggy in the Religious Education office
at (503) 585-5095.

- CONFIRMATION -
We offer our preparation course for Juniors and Seniors of high
school age who wish to be confirmed. The preparation course usually
begins in October and culminates with the Confirmation service
(usually with the Archbishop) in the Spring.  The service is held at a
different area Catholic Church every year.

For more information about preparing for the Sacrament of
Confirmation, please contact the parish office during the weekday
hours at (503) 581-1623.

- ANOINTING OF THE SICK -
Anointing of the sick is available upon request, and in an emergency
one should call the parish office (503) 581-1623 at any time day or
night to summon a priest.

- MARRIAGE -
Arrangements for marriage should be made at least six months in
advance.  Pre-marriage preparation classes are required and are
generally scheduled at St. Joseph’s three times per year.  Details and
additional information can be obtained by calling the parish office on
weekdays (503) 581-1623.

- R.C.I.A. -
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a formation program for adults
interested in becoming Catholic.  The program begins every fall and
culminates at the Easter Vigil Mass in the spring.  If you are seeking
answers to the faith or information regarding the faith, contact
Rolando Moreno at (503) 581-1623 on weekdays.

- HOME COMMUNION -
Communion is provided weekly to those who are unable to attend
mass on a regular basis.  Our Eucharistic Ministers (or a priest)
usually make communion rounds every week.  If you would like to be
added to a communion list, please call the parish office at
(503) 581-1623.

- HOSPITAL CALLS -
Communion is brought daily to patients at Salem Hospital.  Anyone
wishing for reconciliation or an anointing should request a priest.  In
an emergency you may request a priest through the nursing station,
hospital chaplain, or by calling the parish office at (503) 581-1623.
After business hours the answering service will page a priest for you.

- PERPETUAL ADORATION -
Our Adoration Chapel is  located along the south side of the
Church—off of Chemeketa Street.  Our Chapel is open 24 hours a
day.  To arrange for your own time, or to be a regular drop in, please

are scheduled at the mass of their choice.
