March Note Home

Dear Parents,

The temperature is slowly rising, rain is falling, the sun is slowly beginning to shine, and there are patches of green grass on the playground.  In other words, spring is almost here!!  With spring comes bugs, flowers, rain, and hopefully lots of sunshine.  Throughout the month, the children will become more aware of the many changes that take place during this season, as well as common spring activities.

 At School This Month

Some of this month’s learning experiences include:

*Dental Health

*creating pictures and designs with pastel water color markers in the art area.

*taking a walk around the neighborhood to observe signs of spring.

*exploring sand and soil

*Focusing on the letters T, U, and V

*making Vegetable soup the week of the 19th (Each parent will be assigned an ingredient to help with for this project).

*watching and observing an ant farm set up in the science area.

*singing and acting out the song “One Elephant Went Out to Play.”

It’s about an elephant that plays on a spider web!

*making spring trees in the art area.

 At Home

There are many ways to bring this unit into your home.  Take a walk with your child and see how many spiders and insects you can find.  Additionally, you and your child can save seeds from fruits such as oranges and apples.  Assist your child in planting the seeds.  Your child can also sort the seeds by color, size or type to develop classification skills.  The seeds could also be used for counting.  Happy seed collecting!

 At School This Month:

A few of our learning activities include:

  • making leaf rubbings in the art center.
  • Visiting E-Z Orchards on Monday, October 24 (am class) and Friday, October 28 (pm class). Read the rest of this entry…
