Religion

Reading

  • To write a paragraph that included main idea and supporting details

Spelling

  • To learn and apply rules of phonics in writing
  • To copy words correctly from other sources
  • To use a dictionary to look up words
  • To use correct spelling in daily work

Math

  • To know how to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers
  • To know how to add and subtract decimals and fractions
  • To use estimation
  • To learn various geometry and measurement skills
  • To use problem solving strategies

Social Studies

  • To study various regions of the United States
  • To study Oregon history, geography and government
  • To learn and use map skills

Science

  • To study life science, physical science and earth science
  • To develop and present a science project using the scientific method

Health

  • To study the following areas: 
    -Social and personal health, nutrition, safety, systems of the body and environmental health
  • To use and apply decision-making skills and refusal skills learned in the program Second Steps
  • To apply the lessons from the program Steps to Respect, a bullying prevention program

Handwriting

  • To form and join letters correctly in cursive
  • To write legibly in daily work, homework and reports
  • To begin using ink pens in some daily work and reports
